About

Who are we?
Krishna Farm exists to provide education and association (sanga) in the field of bhakti yoga and supportive activities like organic farming and lifestyle, vegetarian and ayurvedic cooking and healthy community living.

Residing at the farm are a small crew of souls creating a lifestyle that facilitates the practice of bhakti yoga. We are family friendly and multi cultural.

Where are we?
The farm is situated in the serene and clean Motueka Valley in the Tasman district of the South Island, New Zealand. Whilst we are rural enough to facilitate a peaceful lifestyle, most modern amenities are only a short drive of 20 minutes to Motueka township or 50 minutes to Nelson City. The nearest major cities are Christchurch (5-6 hours drive) and Wellington (3 hours drive + 3 hours ferry across Cook Strait).

The farm grounds are green and luscious and are bordered by pristine native forest and the beautiful Motueka River.

What do we do?
We open our doors every Sunday night for a community spirited evening of Krishna kirtan, discussion of Krishna consciousness and a delicious vegetarian feast prepared mostly from produce grown on our farm. Residents also get together each morning for kirtan and to discuss and study the literature of the great teachers of Gaudiya Vaishnavism. The temple is home to Sri Sri Nitai Gauracandra, the beautiful moon-faced Lords of the sankirtana movement.

The Temple building includes a large kitchen, a small diverse library of books related to Gaudiya Vaishnavism and it’s Vedic branches of yoga and ayurveda.

Krishna Farm is supported by Veda Organics and Revite Cafe. These devotee operated businesses supply the facility, finance and all-important food to Krishna Farm.

Nelson Hare Krishna Society

Krishna Farm is the working model of Nelson Hare Krishna Society, a charitable trust founded with the following objectives:

To disseminate spiritual knowledge and to educate all people in the objects and techniques of spiritual life in order to check the imbalance of life-values and to achieve peace and unity in the world.

To propagate consciousness of Krishna as revealed in the scriptures Bhagavad Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam, as published by A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami.

To bring members of the Society together with each other and nearer to Krishna, who is the prime entity, and to develop the conceptual understanding that each individual soul is part and parcel of Krishna.

To teach and encourage the Sankirtan movement, congregational chanting of the holy name of God, Krishna, as revealed in the teachings of Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu presented by A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami.

To erect for the use of members and for society at large, a holy temple of transcendental worship dedicated to the personality of Krishna.

To bring the members closer together for the purpose of teaching a simpler and more natural way of life, guided by the Varna-asrama social system taught by A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami.

To publish and distribute periodicals, magazines, books and other writings especially those by A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami with a view towards achieving the aforementioned purposes.
